Self-love is a hot topic right now and is getting much buzz, and so it should! With mental health issues continuing to rise in this modern-day society, education and self-help can be invaluable and low-cost resources in tackling mental health issues.
What better way to start than with self-love and letting the world know it's ok to prioritise their needs. Not taking care of yourself can hurt your physical and mental well-being and lead to other bigger problems. By taking care of yourself, not only do you help yourself, but you can also encourage, inspire and motivate others to do the same. Collectively, self-love is playing it's part to tackle the global mental wellbeing pandemic.
Of course, self-love is not the 'cure' for mental health issues, but it can certainly help encourage others to take a proactive approach to taking their well-being more seriously, both physically and mentally. With environmental factors thought to play a huge contribution to mental illness, self-love is a stepping stone to getting society to be more aware of how their environments and actions can contribute to their well-being.
Self-care and self-love is more than just bath bombs, and face masks, self-care also involves taking care of any illnesses you have, taking regular medications, going for regular checkups, managing your stress levels, eating nutritionally, looking after your body and exercising, as well as making sure your environment and social connections and safe and secure.
On paper, self-love and self-care sound quite simple and straight forward, but if you've never been shown how to care for yourself emotionally and socially, or have been in abusive and toxic relationships that have diminished your self-worth or have had trauma after trauma, self-care is a hard milestone to conquer.
So let's keep self-love buzzing, because learning how to love yourself correctly might just save a life.
XoXo
